What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a natural and unique type of dermal filler made with crystals of calcium that can be injected into the face, neck, decolletage, and hands to address signs of aging. This filler adds immediate volume and also stimulates collagen. Collagen is a protein that gives a youthful and lifted structure to the skin. Your body produces less of this important protein as you get older.
What Can Radiesse Treat?
Radiesse adds volume to enhance facial features or combat signs of aging on the face, neck, and hands. It provides a plumping effect that smooths the treated skin. Because of this, Radiesse is great for targeting smile lines, marionette lines, frown lines, and chin wrinkles.
Radiesse is also a good option for rejuvenating the neck and decolletage without surgery. Additionally, it can be used on the hands to reduce the look of prominent veins and tendons.Â
Some providers only treat the face with Radiesse. Dr. Aurora DeJuliis is certified in the off label use of Radiesse to soften neck lines, decolletage, hands, and buttocks dimples due to cellulite. Highly diluted Radiesse can be used to add more structure to the buttocks as well.

Who Is a Candidate for Radiesse?
Ideal candidates for Radiesse are those who are in overall good health and interested in eliminating the appearance of wrinkles on their face or restoring lost volume in their hands. Because Radiesse works to eliminate the appearance of moderate wrinkles and folds, this filler is typically recommended for patients who have already experienced noticeable signs of aging on their skin. How Long Does the Treatment Take?
While the duration of each appointment will vary from patient to patient depending on the treatment area(s), injecting Radiesse typically takes less than 30 minutes. In fact, many patients are able to complete the treatment on their lunch break and return to work. There is little to no downtime, so most people can also resume their daily routines immediately.
What Is the Recovery Like?
As mentioned, Radiesse injections require almost no downtime at all. While patients will experience swelling, redness, and tenderness in the treated area, these side effects are common and usually disappear within 1-2 days. Taking time off work is typically not necessary for this treatment.Â
How Long Will the Results Last?
Patients will notice their results immediately after Radiesse is injected into the treated area. Continued improvement can be seen over the next several weeks as new collagen and elastin are produced in the skin. After this time, patients can enjoy their newly improved look for up to a year or more with the proper care.
